«I want a Movement that becomes adult, plural, that is open to alliances and that is firmly progressive: paradoxically, we are the ones who are truly on the left».

Alessandra Todde spoke while participating in Nova, the constituent assembly called by leader Giuseppe Conte to chart the path for the future of the 5 Star Movement in this post-Grillismo era.

The Sardinian governor explained: «I believe it is important to make people understand that it is time to change our skin, not to dig in and make people understand that we are capable of speaking to hearts and, why not, of convincing others to join the Movement».

Is there a danger that the Democratic Party, the pillar of an alternating-current coalition, will swallow up what remains of the people of a group that had managed to govern Italy and is downsized at every election? Todde is sure: "To the extent that we bring out our value system, talk about our arguments and our themes, we are able to be a driving force. Just think," she adds, "of what we have done for peace, for social issues. Paradoxically, we are the ones who are truly left-wing."
