Free practice yesterday, today at the start of the Formula Kite World Championship contest. Completed the formality of the registrations - 140 have arrived -, the world championship of one of the most spectacular and emerging disciplines has started in Torregrande, entered in the Olympic squad starting from Paris 2024. It will be precisely the format foreseen for the next Games, to engage competitors from 33 nations and six continents until Sunday (America is divided into north and south, as required by the World Sailing regulations), welcomed by the organization that brings together Open Water Challenge and Eolo Beach Sports, under the auspices of the IKA International Kiteboarding Federation.

The event. An event of great appeal, as also demonstrated by the names in the competition. There are the two reigning champions, the German Florian Gruber and the American Daniela Moroz. Plus a dense array of first-rate opponents, ready to compete for the stakes.

Male. In the men's category, eyes on the French trio Axel Mazella (winner of the Sardinia Grand Slam in Cagliari on Sunday), Theo De Ramecourt and Maxime Nocher. Italy responds with Riccardo Pianosi, Mario Calbucci and Lorenzo Boschetti (registered with the Chia Wind Club).

Female. The female confrontation also promises sparks. Moroz will have to face the Polish Julia Damasiewicz, reigning European champion, and - here too - a trio of blue champions: Tania Laporte (Chia Wind Club), Sofia Tomasoni (Windsurfing Club Cagliari) and Maggie Eileen Pescetto.
