The comic actor Antonio Albanese and Giulio Scarpati, David di Donatello as best leading actor in the film "The Boy Judge", will be the protagonists of the 19th edition of the "Thoughts and Words: books and films at Asinara" festival, two evenings of cinema , music and literature, scheduled for 24 and 25 August in the splendid setting offered by the island of Asinara.
The commissioner and director of the Park, Giovanni Cubeddu and Vittorio Gazale, and the culture councilor of the Municipality of Porto Torres, Maria Bastiana Cocco, participated in the presentation. Ten events on the calendar of Pensieri e Parole, the festival curated by Sante Maurizi for the “CineArena” association, one of the four stages of the Islands of Cinema, the festival circuit that winds through the islands of Tavolara, La Maddalena, San Pietro and Asinara.
SATURDAY 24th - We start at 7pm on Saturday 24th with the "Songs from Supercarcere", an artistic project born on the island in 2009, today signed by the quartet composed of the actress Daniela Cossiga, the singer-songwriter Antonio Meleddu aka "Bandito", the bassist Matteo Anelli and the Sassari rapper Salvatore Canneddu.
At 7.30pm Luana Ilardo, daughter of Luigi Ilardo, justice collaborator, killed by the mafia in 1996, shortly before entering the protection programme, was the protagonist of the meeting with the director of the Asinara National Park Vittorio Gazale. At the center of the discussion is the book “Luigi Ilardo. State Murder”, touching testimony by Luana collected by the writer Anna Vinci, which once again turns the spotlight on an embarrassing truth, the subject of State-mafia negotiations. “
One hundred years with the radio on" is the event scheduled for 8.15pm, animated by the radio speaker and presenter Giovanna Delvino, together with Andrea Maurizi, president of Radio Uni Sassari, the student broadcaster of the University of Sassari, and Carlo Pahler president of Rad-Uni, association of Italian university radios. Closing at 9.30pm with the presentation of the "Isole del cinema" award to Antonio Albanese and screening of his "Cento Domeniche", a 2023 film written, directed and starring the actor: the story of Antonio Riva, a worker in early retirement struggling with the daughter's wedding and economic difficulties. A film that rigorously and lightly updates the trend of "civil cinema".
SUNDAY 25th – Sunday 25th we start at 7pm with “Mamma mia dammi cento lire”, concert by Daniela Cossiga, Gabriele Cau, Roberto Mura, Antonio Papa, Davide Soddu and Graziano Solinas. At 8pm the journalist Giacomo Mameli talks with the editorialist of Il Fatto Quotidiano and honorary president of the Libera association Nando Dalla Chiesa about his "Le Ribelli", a book that tells stories of women who challenged the mafia for love. The screenwriter and director Giorgio Amato returns to the festival with his "The Secret of Christmas", in competition for short films at the David di Donatello 2024, screening scheduled for 9pm. The evening will also be an opportunity to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of one of the films most important of the "civil" genre of recent decades is "The Boy Judge", a 1994 film directed by Alessandro Di Robilant, dedicated to the life of the young Sicilian judge Rosario Livatino, killed by the mafia on 21 September 1990.
The film allowed the young actor Giulio Scarpati to receive the David di Donatello as best leading actor. The screening of the film (10 pm) will be preceded by a reading by the Roman actor dedicated to "Rosario goes into retirement" by Gianni Caria, a monologue in which the former Prosecutor of the Republic of Sassari, now deputy Prosecutor, gives voice to the young magistrate Rosario Livatino so that he can talk about what was and what could have been, about regrets and canceled hopes, about heroism and a sense of duty.
The game of the "ideal library" continues in this edition too: the festival invites guests and the public present at the various events to bring a book with them - dedicating it briefly and justifying the reasons for the choice - to donate to the soon-to-be-established "Library of Asinara" .
