Two environmental activists engaged in the anti-oil protest campaign "Just Stop Oil" have smeared the famous work " I Girasoli " by Vincent Van Gogh .

It happened at the National Gallery in London .

The images of the blitz show two very young girls in action : both entered the museum wearing white t-shirts with the words “Just Stop Oil” (“Let's stop the oil now”) and threw the contents of two cans of soup against the painting. Then they leaned against the wall, with one hand each, under the smeared work, so as to be filmed smiling , with the packages of soup open in the other hand.

The Sunflowers of the National Gallery are one of five versions of the same theme painted by the great Dutch artist and the London canvas has an estimated value of 80 million euros .

The "Just Stop Oil" campaign , launched against the setbacks in climate emergency policy attributed to the Tory government by Liz Truss, has been running in the United Kingdom for several days with hit and run actions against places and public transport by squads of radical activists.
