The Mism (Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility) has entrusted Grimaldi with the Cagliari-Arbatax-Civitavecchia maritime section.

The route that symbolizes maritime continuity has been at a standstill for 4 days, abandoned by Tirrenia because it is not profitable without the continuity regime.

From 23 September the ships will return to cross that stretch of the Tyrrhenian Sea, this time thanks to the Neapolitan carrier.

The Catania ship will transport goods and passengers on a three-weekly basis and two stopovers in Arbatax: departures are scheduled from Civitavecchia to Cagliari every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 8 pm, from Cagliari to Civitavecchia every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8 pm.

The itinerary also includes departures from the port of Arbatax every Tuesday and Thursday (at 2 am) for Civitavecchia, and on Wednesdays and Sundays (at 6 am) towards Cagliari.

The service is guaranteed for six months, pending the new announcement that will last 5 years and was announced by Minister Enrico Giovannini in the last question time in the Chamber.

The Catania ferry flying the Italian flag can carry over 2,200 linear meters of rolling goods (cars, vans, trucks, semi-trailers, etc.) and up to 955 passengers.

At the disposal of the latter there are 93 cabins of various types (internal, external and superior), all with air conditioning and private bathrooms, some equipped for passengers with reduced mobility and for pets traveling in tow, and a room with reclining armchairs.

The on-board services include a restaurant, self-service, 24-hour bar service, a shop, and a video games area.

GRIMALDI - "With the launch of the new Civitavecchia-Arbatax-Cagliari line, we once again demonstrate our closeness to the real needs of our country, with particular reference to passengers and transport companies in Central-Southern Sardinia, who have been asking for transport suited to their needs ", Emanuele Grimaldi, Chief Executive Officer of the Neapolitan Group, declared in a statement.

"With our connections we make territorial continuity not a slogan but a reality, ensuring the Sardinians the right to mobility and creating more and more opportunities for the island's economic operators - he added -. I would like to thank the top management of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable mobility for the trust placed in us once again. We will strive to offer an excellent service as done on the Naples-Cagliari-Palermo line which, since its launch, has been highly appreciated by our customers ".

"BOCCATA D'OXIGENO" - The satisfaction expressed by the Regional Transport Councilor, Giorgio Todde: "The assignment, albeit on a temporary basis for six months pending the tender for the five-year assignment - he observes - is a precious breath of 'oxygen for the territories of Cagliari and Ogliastra and avoids the risk of unacceptable isolation for passengers and goods ".
