163 years after its foundation , the “Luigi Canepa” Conservatory of Sassari made a prestigious debut . The musical institution attended the 50th annual congress of the European Conservatory Association which was held at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, the Netherlands .
“ Canepa ” was the only Sardinian conservatory present at the AEC , which brings together the one hundred most prestigious institutes of higher education in music of the old continent. From this year the Sassari conservatory is an active member of the AEC through the professor delegate for International Relations Mauro Masala.
Despite being a freshman, Sassari did its part by relating to numerous institutions present and enhancing the strengths of "Canepa" : its historical structure, its geographical positioning in the center of the Mediterranean which makes it a privileged destination for Erasmus+ international exchanges, the lively artistic activity with over 50 concerts offered every year, the teachers and the numerous prestigious masterclasses offered free of charge to members and also open to outsiders.
The first results have already arrived, with the launch of interesting projects financed with PNRR funds together with other Italian conservatories and the promise of a more than welcome visit to Sassari by illustrious teachers and directors of European institutes.
The next edition of the congress will be held at the Milan Conservatory in November 2024 and the “Canepa” Conservatory of Sassari, particularly attentive in recent years to the relationships and potential of national and international cooperation, has already confirmed its participation.
