Stefano Oppo Knight of the Republic. On November 26 the Oristano rower was - like the other medalists in Tokyo - awarded the honor conferred by President Mattarella and Mario Draghi for the bronze conquered in the last Olympics in Japan.
Present at the ceremony were the president of Coni Giovanni Malagò, who recalled the long history of the Italian Rowing Federation (Fic), the president of Fic Giovanni Abbagnale, the president of the Paralympic Committee Luca Pancalli, as well as numerous political personalities and military institutions.
In the almost two hours of awards ceremony, the year of Italian rowing was reconstructed with the video “Emozioni azzurre”, with the 92 medals won by the Italian athletes in the various categories. Then the word passed to the protagonists of Tokyo, including Oppo and his boatmate Pietro Ruta who told their emotions in five circles.
All the medalists, in addition to the honor, were also awarded a certificate of participation in the Olympics signed by the president of the IOC Thomas Bach and by the president of the organizing committee Seiko Hashimoto.
