The first edition of the "Premio Rondine" has its winner: Salvatore Burrai , professional footballer from Orosei, born in 1987, who for over 20 years has been one of the most popular Sardinian players in the Peninsula and last season played in the ranks of Perugia in Serie B.
Conceived by the first female mayor of Orosei, Elisa Farris, from 2021 at the helm of the Municipality of Baronia, the important initiative intends to reward all the talents and great professionals who have distinguished themselves in their work , in the artistic, social, cultural and musical fields. o sportsman keeping the name of Sardinia high in Italy and in the world with particular attention to the children of the suggestive marine center of Baronia, appreciated all over the world for its beautiful beaches and international reference center for the production of white Orosei marble , used in palaces of excellence, dream villas and beautiful churches scattered over the five continents.
In a solemn ceremony held at the "Peppino Nanni" sports field, at the end of a triangular football match that also saw the first team of which Salvatore Burrai was a part of when he was still a child, he showed all his talent to parents and coaches of the time , the Fanum Orosei, the mayor Farris presented the prize to the player surrounded for the occasion by family members, fans and many friends who follow him every Sunday in the championship matches.
The profile of the trophy, designed by the architect Antonello Dessena , was made of marble by Devito Stones in collaboration with the graphic designer Marco Soddu.
Raised in the Cagliari youth academy , Salvatore Burrai made his debut at the age of 19 in the first team in the 2006-07 season, playing in the Italian Cup in the 1-0 victory in August 2006 against Cuneo.
From there began a long career that saw him involved in numerous teams of various divisions around Italy until his return to Cagliari.
In 2012 he was bought by the Latina and started traveling again. With the Lazio club he is the protagonist of the promotion to Serie B, also winning the Lega Pro Italian Cup, the first of his career and the history of the team.
Today Burrai is involved in Perugia and in the next championship a clash with Fabio Liverani's rossoblù will be inevitable. The first citizen Elisa Farris was happy and excited for an event that saw the participation of a very large audience from all over the island.
