Tradition, sport and passion for horses that the poet Sebastiano Satta already celebrated: “La mia terra sing. And whoever wins the race will be rewarded with a nice poledro / which Osilo tamed, Osilo chiara / altrice and horse tamer ”. Thursday 12 August Osilo reopens the curtain on the “Corsa all'anello”, a spectacular equestrian joust that tests the qualities of the riders (and the amazons) and of the horses.

An event that has many features in common with other equestrian challenges that take place on the island, such as the Sartiglia of Oristano. In fact, the two rides are part of the European Ring Rides Network, together with the Municipalities of Sulmona, Sinj (Croatia), Barban (Croatia) and Zante (Greece).

There are 49 registered this year. On the saddle of the Anglo-Arabs or the English thoroughbreds they will try to hit the center in one of the three rings placed at 40 meters from each other. The difference with respect to the Sartiglia is that the wooden sword must remain inserted in the ring suspended along the path in via Roma, the main one of Osilo, where the path is covered with sand for safety.

Since 1995 the race has been organized by the municipal administration. The electronic timing avoids disputes from competitors and makes the race more spectacular: within 9 seconds you have to cover the hundred meters, beyond which even the possible "center" is not valid.

The Corsa all'anello is probably the highlight of the Osilo summer and for the occasion the historic center was decorated with multicolored installations crocheted by the women of Osilo.
