The organization of the "Summer Carnival" scheduled for Porto Torres on August 3rd officially opens with six allegorical floats, participants and impromptu groups that will parade along the Balai seafront and in the city center. The organization of the event was entrusted to the city Pro Loco which won the tender prepared by the Municipality. An event very dear to the Turritan community and which returns in the year of its 50th anniversary after nine years of absence. In Porto Torres, in fact, the "Summer Carnival" was organized for the first time in 1974. The event was presented this morning in the Town Hall in the presence of the budget councilor Alessandro Carta, the culture councilor Maria Bastiana Cocco and the president of the Pro Loco Anna Maria Zara. Furthermore, the president of the municipal council Franco Satta, the president of the Culture commission Antonello Cabitta, the municipal councilor Gavino Ruiu and Luca Pazzona, the artistic director of the "Noche de Perreo" format of Sassari who will close the parade of allegorical floats with a music and dance show in the space in front of the Aragonese Tower. The organizational machinery has already been set in motion by choosing as its logo the famous marble Satyr found in 2003 in the area of the Maetzke Baths and exhibited at the Antiquarium Turritano, wearing a colorful carnival mask and above the writing: “Porto Torres, city of culture and fun". The parade of allegorical floats is scheduled to start from the late afternoon of Saturday 3 August. The participants will meet in the Balai roundabout (square in front of Tropical) and from here, they will cross the entire seafront, reach Corso Vittorio Emanuele, filling the entire journey up to Via Adelasia with sounds, colors and fun. During the route, in the space in front of the Aragonese Tower, the participants of each float or extemporaneous group will perform their respective choreographies in front of the guests in the grandstand and the jury who will express their opinion on the construction, animation and movement of the floats, on costumes and choreographies, on the originality of the theme and scenography as a whole. The preparation of some floats has already started and anyone wishing to join the event can present their idea of a float, proposing the theme and allegory to the Pro Loco. The latter will evaluate whether the proposal is suitable and that it respects certain parameters. Once the green light has been obtained, the "carrascialai" will be able to begin the construction of their works by choosing to do so either in a space available to them - as long as it is located outside the town - or in the hangar located in via Vivaldi made available by the industrial consortium with the aim of also strengthening the climate of community, celebration and light-heartedness that accompanies the days preceding the carnival. For the construction of the wagons, the Pro Loco, in addition to offering support for the construction, will give a contribution in materials (from glue to paints, from paper to polystyrene up to the platforms) and will provide the tractor for moving the wagon only in case who do not have their own transport available. Once all the themes of the floats have been established, the float leaders will provide information on the chosen themes and all interested parties will be able to choose which group to join to participate in the parade as extras. Reference contacts will be provided for each wagon. Impromptu groups are also allowed, always after notifying the Pro Loco and the float reserved for children. For the organization of the event, the Municipality of Porto Torres found the necessary resources to prepare the 30 thousand euro tender won by the city's Pro Loco.
