The League is asking for the head of the National Anti-Corruption Authority (ANAC), the Sardinian Giuseppe Busia .

The object of the dispute is the new procurement code against which Busia pointed the finger. The rule provides that under 150 thousand euros (according to some estimates 98% of public works) there is no need to issue a tender and you can go to direct assignment .

The aim is to simplify, but according to Busia, under 150,000 euros " you will take the closest company, the one you know, not the one that performs best ". In short, " the cousin or even the one who voted for me is fine and this is a problem, especially in small towns ".

Because «doing it quickly is welcome, as long as it doesn't mean losing sight of doing it well. Nor is it good to de-bureaucratize too much where bureaucracy does its job, that is, controls to do well, to enforce rights and because money is well spent".

Open up heaven: the Carroccio, one of the promoters of the text, doesn't fit. For Stefano Locatelli, head of the party's local authorities, Busia's statements are "serious, unspeakable and misinformed, if the president thinks that all mayors are corrupt he cannot be in that role" .

The deputies of the League in the Environment Committee echoed him: «We reaffirm our full trust in local administrators, unlike the president of Anac who obviously considers them corrupt and brittle. Before shooting zero on the mayors and on the Salvini Code, Busia should think about what the future he wants for Italy . We want efficiency and red tape for a fast country, there's no doubt about it».

"Those who point the finger a priori at Italian mayors cannot fill the role of president of the Anac, Busia take a step back and apologize to our mayors who will be able to entrust public works with transparency for the good of their communities", he attacks Northern League Senator Gianluca Cantalamessa.

After the controversies, Busia specified that he did not intend to attack the mayors, who "today are heroes and perform an essential function, paid very little and assume great responsibilities" . But he kept the point: «Controlability and transparency can be reconciled with the speed of doing, through digital. Bidding for contracts is not the bulk of the time that is lost for the works, and if not even a notice is given, the best companies are penalized compared to the incompetent ones, which often cause delays ».

The Ministry of Transport, led by Matteo Salvini, expresses "satisfaction and relief for the course correction of the Anac president", while the Democratic Party shares his concerns.

“We find the attacks that the representatives of the League address to the president of the National Anti-Corruption Authority very serious – says Francesco Boccia -. Busia's fault is only that of forcefully denouncing the critical issues of the new Procurement Code. Behind the request for speeding up lies the lowering of the quality of the work and the increasingly strong risk of even more massive infiltrations of organized crime . Let the right know that Busia's concerns are ours."
