Against the onslaught of wind turbines and photovoltaic panels, the council's moratorium is not the only proposal on the field. Since yesterday, the text of the Scientific Committee for Insularity has also been brought to the attention of the Regional Council on the extension of the PPR to the entire regional territory within six months and on the ban, in the meantime, on the construction of new energy production plants from renewable sources.
The bill approved by the Council on 30 April will soon be included in the Urban Planning and Industry commissions chaired by Roberto Li Gioi (M5S) and Antonio Solinas (Pd).
The process of the bill in the parliaments includes a series of hearings, including that of the Scientific Committee which will present its proposal which integrates the landscape planning of the coastal strip with that of the remaining regional territory.
«In the spirit of pro bono collaboration shown by the Committee since 2017, we will present our text to the commissions involved, which is very simple and essential», explains the president of the Committee, Maria Antonietta Mongiu. Text in which «we have applied article 145 of the Urbani Code, the one that guided the coast saving law, in particular we propose the procedure for carrying out landscape planning in the agricultural territory also reviewing the elements of the PPR of the coasts, never touched in many years» .
The group leader of the Progressives Francesco Agus is among those who consider the Scientific Committee's proposal "interesting". Now, he said, «it will be necessary to carry out a supplementary study in the commission. The adaptation of the PPR also to the internal areas is something that Sardinia has been postponing for too long and from there arise the current problems that undermine the protection of our landscape. This is the real key to avoiding the plundering of our territory."
