On 23 and 24 September, in conjunction with the European Heritage Days, the second appointment of the XXIV edition of the National Castle Days, organized by the Istituto Italiano Castelli onlus , will also take place in Sardinia. After the previous editions held at the San Michele Castle in Cagliari, the Sanluri Castle, the Aymerich Castle in Laconi, the Calasetta Tower, this year the spotlights will be lit on the ruins of the Medusa Castle in Samugheo.
On the morning of 23 September at 11 and 12 an archaeotrekking will be organized with guided tours held by students of the "Vittorio Emanuele II" National Boarding School of Cagliari, belonging to the VB - Classical High School and VE - European Classical High School classes, who have been engaged for some years now in the preparation of the Sardinian National Days, as part of the PCTO project, thanks to the collaboration between the Sardinia Section and the Cagliari school institute. On the afternoon of September 24th, from 4.30pm to 7pm, the conference entitled "A monument to experience between history and nature: the Medusa Castle in Samugheo and its territory" will be held at the MURATS museum.
The scientific-informative meeting will involve numerous scholars and will deal with the themes of history, archeology and restoration for the valorisation and promotion of the Samugheo territory. Also at the MURATS on 23 September at 5pm there will be a free guided tour for children from 0 to 12 years old, curated by the museum staff, while on 24 September at 10am you can take advantage of a guided tour in Sardinian language. The visit in Sardinian is in line with the themes of the European Days 2023, which aim to "draw connections between recognising, safeguarding and promoting intangible cultural heritage assets with the aim of sharing them and transmitting them to future generations". On the same days it will be possible to visit the museums of the Allai and Samugheo Museum System, the CIMA and the MURATS with a single reduced ticket (4 euros) and free of charge for children up to 12 years old.
