The end of October marks an unmissable sporting event in the city of the sun that retains the scent of summer. From 26 to 29 October in the splendid setting of the port of Cagliari, twelve crews, six of which are European, will compete in the Team Tace Youth U22 European Championship. The formula is the one proposed by the Italian class which aims above all at the sister class, that is the O'Pen Skiff and at the categories of young athletes ready to move up in class. The European championship brings the best crews to sea thanks to this event organized by the National Naval League of Sulcis in collaboration with the Ichnusa Rowing Club of Cagliari.

The demonstration

Cagliari presents itself as an excellent place for team competitions, so that the spectacle is guaranteed and the competition is in perfect harmony with the objectives of its organisers. Thanks to the still warm early autumn climate, it will be an event that can be enjoyed by enthusiasts and the curious. A second edition with great success for having brought together twelve crews with athletes from all over Europe. Its form is innovative, above all for its sporting inclusion character: each team in fact has a team made up of a boy and a girl, both under 21. Sport is also excellence in its spirit of gender equality and deserving participation. The regattas will take place on RS Aero 5 to achieve maximum performance: the team competitions, spread over three days, will aim to highlight precise navigation skills and tactics at low speed compared to the speed given by the power. The teams will compete in different qualifying stages and then reach the finals. If Thursday 26 October will be the warm-up day, the weekend races of Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October will be the testing ground for the participating young professionals. The public, from land, will be able to enjoy the races of these small boats with a high technical profile. This appointment concludes, in Italy, the adventure for 2023 aimed at what 2024 will bring and, in particular, at the physical growth of young sailors thanks to a very easy boat for their class transition.

The protagonists

A great opportunity, the one that will come to life from 26 to 29 October to continue the important action of cultivating the talent of large and small athletes associated in the Italian clubs of reference, for Cagliari the Ichnusa Rowing Club. Taking part in a race with a new boat that focuses entirely on lightness with a strong performance character is certainly confirmation of the technical skills of the protagonists. The RS Aero is a hull that weighs just thirty-one kilos. This boat, before the transition to Olympic and pre-Olympic classes, allows younger athletes to experiment with a new concept of management: the boat weighs less than its helmsman. In this dimension, correct and robust development is ensured until the complete physical maturity of the twenties. 2023 is preparing to host the RS Aero World Championship with a very interesting circuit in five stages located between Sardinia, Lazio and Lake Garda. In Calasetta, then, we will focus on the Youth category, with kids between 17 and 20 years old, who will compete in regattas with separate starts. Here the winter will be fundamental to involve younger sailors, about to change class, in choosing RS Aero. In this regard, it is worth remembering that Cagliari and Rome will be the bases that will welcome young people in the reference circles (for Cagliari, the Sulcis Naval League) to test the RS Aero 5 and 6 boats. Everything seems to point to a take-off with success for projects aimed at youth categories.

Sport once again presents itself as a vehicle for youth aggregation and growth: and everything is achieved thanks to the scheduled events and the commitment of the actors involved. Upcoming appointment on the long weekend of October, in Cagliari in the Su Siccu competition field near the headquarters of the Ichnusa Rowing Club, on 26-27-28-29 to savor the value of the RS Aero Youth team regatta.
