There is no time to approve the regional budget law by the "natural" deadline of December 31st.
The Regional Council, acting on a proposal from Budget Councillor Giuseppe Meloni, has approved the provisional operating authorization for one month. The Region announced this in a statement on the resolutions approved by the executive branch.
The budget process is continuing in the Regional Council committees, but time is running out and the Christmas holidays are approaching. If the budget is approved before mid-January, this measure may not need to be used; it will have to be approved by the Council.
The last budget measure was approved in April, four months late.
The inevitable controversy comes from the opposition: " Campo Largo has been making grand announcements since October, promising approval of the budget by December 31st," attacks Fausto Piga of the Brothers of Italy party, "but once again, time is being wasted and deadlines are being delayed due to superficiality and divisions within the majority."
The government approved the budget in mid-November. " There was plenty of time to approve the budget promptly," recalls Meloni, "but Campo Largo wasted time with internal squabbles and planned the wrong political agenda."
