SuperG, Mayer d'oro enters history. Bad for the Italians
The Austrian is the first to win in alpine skiing in three winter games in a row
Matthias Mayer in history. The Austrian is in fact the first skier to win gold in alpine skiing in three consecutive Olympics, after winning the Super G in Yanqing at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
Mayer, who took gold in the downhill in Sochi in 2014 and the Super G in PyeongChang in 2018, triumphed in 1: 19.94 with the American Ryan Cochran-Siegle trailing by just 4 cents and the Norwegian Aleksander Aamodt Kilde of 42 cents.
Bad for the Italians, far from the podium for the Italians: Matteo Marsaglia finished 18th, Dominik Paris 21st, while Christof Innerhofer fell.
