Sol d'Oro in Verona for Cuncordu, organic oil from the Masoni Becciu company in Villacidro
The business started in 2009 with 5 hectares of olive groves, today it owns 62 for a total of 14,000 trees
The extra virgin olive oil of the Masoni Becciu company of Villacidro , led by the two agronomists Valentina Deidda and Nicola Solinas , also triumphs at the 2023 edition of the Sol d'Oro international oil competition , organized by Veronafiere since 2002. Already in 2021 it was awarded the Sol d'Oro with the productions Ispiritu Sardu and Cuncordu .
The most important blind tasting olive oil competition in the world takes place every year in February and April, dedicated respectively to the productions of the northern and southern hemispheres of the Earth.
The company from Villacidro won over 420 samples of extra virgin olive oil in the competition, from Italy, Albania, Chile, Croatia, Greece, Morocco, Peru, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain and Tunisia. The official award ceremony will be held on April 2 in the Agrifood hall , at the same time as Vinitaly, and on April 4 at Palazzo Bra in Verona, in the presence of the authorities.
«For us it is a pride to bring our beloved Sardinia and our town of Villacidro, rich in excellence, on the top step of the podium. Cuncordu was awarded the Sol d'Oro as the best organic oil in the world, while Alphabetum won the Sol d'Argento as the second best extra virgin olive oil in the world» says Nicola Solinas, proud and excited for the prestigious international recognition. «We are happy that our passion and obsessive attention to the supply chain continue to give us great satisfaction: in 12 years we have reached the highest podium nine times, the only Sardinian company to have won the Sol d'Oro. This hard job always fills us with great joy and satisfaction» concludes the agronomist.

A passion that is also revealed in the organization of sensory tasting courses to promote Villacidro's extra virgin olive oil all over the world and which has earned the company the victory of almost 190 international competitions dedicated to oil production.
