Thirteen years later, Salvatore Sirigu returns to Palermo: the Sardinian goalkeeper, 37 years old, has signed a contract until the end of the season.

After his first experience in pink and black, protagonist of the era of president Maurizio Zamparini, Sirigu won many laurels with the Paris Saint Germain jersey and was part of the blue team as a member of the expedition that won the 2021 European Championships with the then coach Roberto Mancini. Now, released at the end of last season, he was signed by Palermo's sporting director, Morgan De Sanctis (former goalkeeper), after the serious injury suffered by Alfred Gomis on the first day of the Serie B championship.

Sirigu will form the goalkeeping duo for the Rosanero with Sebastiano Desplanches, the designated starter.
