Jannik Sinner beats Andrey Rublev and qualifies for the quarterfinals of Roland Garros. The Italian tennis player, leader for 52 consecutive weeks of the ATP ranking (a whole year at the top of world tennis) wins 6-1 6-3 6-4 in two hours of play in the eighth-finals. In the next round he will challenge the Kazakh Aleksandr Bublik to try to reach the semifinals.

In the first set, Sinner is almost perfect: he goes to 5-0, wastes a set point and suffers the turnaround of Rublev who avoids the complete deficit and finds at least 5-1. But, in 30', the story ends with a 6-1 that highlights a match that was immediately one-sided .

In the second set, Rublev held serve (at 15), with the 1-0 immediately overturned by Sinner who quickly moved to 3-1. This time, his opponent stayed in the match and went first to 3-2 and then to 4-3, only to finally fall 6-3 .

The third set was more lively: Rublev caught up with the world number one on four occasions and brought the score to 4-4, before the decisive blow from Sinner who went 5-4 and – at the first opportunity – closed the match with 6-4 .
