Jannik Sinner reached the semifinals of the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing. The world number 2 defeated Hungary's Maroszan in the quarterfinals, 6-1, 7-5, in one hour and 21 minutes of play.

After a smooth first set, the South Tyrolean had to struggle in the second. Maroszan saved four break points at 3-4, then he broke and served, at 5-4, to take the match to a third. But with four unforced errors in a row, he gifted Sinner the break.

The Italian cashes in and soars to victory, closing 7-5 with a 12-1 streak in the last three games. In the semifinals, he'll face Australian Alex De Minaur, world number 8, who has always been defeated in the 10 previous matches in which Sinner has conceded a paltry one set .
