The last time it was possible to admire it was a few years ago on the occasion of Open Monuments. The municipal administration and the Superintendency had exhibited it to the public thus making it known to hundreds of people.

The mosaic from the Roman period near the rural church of San Giovanni, in Settimo San Pietro, is now protected by a tarp and a layer of earth that covers it, awaiting the resumption and the end of the excavations.

A monument that was immediately defined of considerable importance, capable of contributing to the tourist enhancement of the territory, together with the museum "The Ark of Time", the Casa Dessì, the archaeological site of Cuccuru nuraxi and S'Acqua de is dolus and of churches. So many riches to be exploited, but visits have been blocked by Covid.

Important funding is needed to complete the recovery of the Roman mosaic. Municipality and Superintendency are determined to do their part, as has been the case for several months in the new excavations of Cuccuru nuraxi.

The Superintendency is perhaps waiting for better times to be able to resume the excavations that at the time had aroused no small curiosity. A work that cannot remain hidden even pending the end of the pandemic with the prospect of opening new hopes to tourism, including local ones.
