Things are getting tougher now for Olbia. The much-feared two-point penalty for late registration for the Serie D championship has finally arrived, meaning the Bianconeri slip to 21 points in Group G, further displacing them from the safety zone and the possibility of making the play-offs.
The Gallura team remains in third-to-last place, but the gap to the thirteenth-placed team has increased from 8 to 10 points. Given that a gap of 8 points or more between thirteenth and sixteenth-placed Olbia (or third-to-last, i.e., Olbia) means there is no play-off, and the former is therefore mathematically safe while the latter is directly relegated to Eccellenza, the Bianconeri—hit in the standings by Real Monterotondo, one point behind, and Cassino, four points behind—will need to perform a feat to retain their place in the category with nine games left in the regular season.
To top it all off, Saggia received a three-match suspension for the red card he received in the away match against Flaminia Civita Castellana ("For punching an opposing player"), and Biancu, who was given a yellow card on Sunday, will miss the derby against Budoni due to multiple yellow cards. Cabrera, meanwhile, has been suspended.
