Everyone was waiting for his return, and the wait is now over.

On Tuesday 24 May 2022, the Septimia Musa mosaic returns to its place. And to allow the reassembly, positioning and fixing works of the precious find in the exhibition hall, the Antiquarium Turritano will remain closed to the public.

The mosaic, found in the 1960s in the Balai locality in Porto Torres , enriched a tomb. Made in polychrome tesserae , in the inscription it mentions the deceased Septimia Musa, of Christian religion as shown by different symbols.

The restoration , which began in September 2020, involved the consolidation and cleaning, as well as the replacement of the supporting base.

The precious mosaic is part of the museum's collection and will be visible to the public starting Wednesday 25 May .
