An opportunity not to be missed to promote historical, cultural, environmental and religious tourism. The Municipal Council of Senorbì has joined the Foundation of the Mining Path of Santa Barbara with the aim of becoming part of the tourist itinerary dedicated to the Saint that develops in Sardinia along the ancient mining paths that cross places of worship and churches dedicated to the patron saint of miners.

"This is a very important initiative that aims to develop new tourism opportunities by enhancing local territories and local resources", explained Mayor Alessandro Pireddu in the classroom.

Santa Barbara is the patron saint of Senorbì: she is celebrated on December 4th, the date of her martyrdom. Much invoked by the military, she is also the protector of the Navy, the National Fire Brigade Corps, artillery and engineering weapons.

By joining the Foundation's project, the municipal administration of Senorbì wants to promote study programs and activities aimed at making known and disseminating the characteristics and value of the cultural and historical heritage of its territory. But above all it wants to take advantage of the opportunity, also given by the arrival of regional and community funding, to promote the enhancement and marketing of local food and wine and handicraft products in a logic of sustainable tourism.

"The initiative aims to boost the slow tourism of Sardinia, implementing the tourist offer with the construction of new paths capable of enhancing the identity and devotional heritage of our territory", is the comment of the Councilor for Culture, Paola Erriu.
