Success for the 73rd Cavalcata Sarda which was held today in Sassari. From 9 am to 1.15 pm, 60 groups from all over Sardinia, 200 knights and riders, and over two thousand participants paraded in front of tens of thousands of spectators. Great eye-catcher for the pre-final with the procession of 120 women, each with a variant of the Sardinian costume, stopping in front of the authorities' stand.

«A way to say no - states the artistic director of the event Giuliano Marongiu - to violence against women and, in general, to every form of violence». Immediately after the passage of a vintage car in reference to the first edition of the Cavalcata which took place in 1899 in front of the Savoy family.

«It was the most beautiful ride of my mandates - declares the mayor of Sassari Nanni Campus - unfortunately two were "stolen" from me by the pandemic and bad weather».

Among the authorities in the stands, both civil and military, were also the two regional councilors Desirè Manca, with responsibility for Labour, and Franco Cuccureddu, head of Tourism.

«It was exciting - the latter reports - the Cavalcade represents one of the great identity events of our Island». As for support from the Region for this type of anniversary, Cuccureddu adds: «We will continue to focus on this and other events. However, I would like to remind you, without controversy, that tourism represents only 0.8% of the regional budget. We need to invest wisely." This afternoon the pairs are scheduled at the Pinna racecourse and this evening the festival of folk songs and dances will take place in Piazza d'Italia.
