Twenty boxers gathered in Sassari, in one of the most challenging areas of the historic center. Yesterday, the event, promoted by the Erittu Boxing Team and sponsored by the Municipality, took place on Corso Vico. Athletes from all over the island participated.

The protagonists are in the ring in Largo Gazometro, among crumbling and empty buildings and just steps from the never-ending construction site of the Intermodal Center. A sign of vitality and a counter to the pessimistic reputation that often surrounds Sassari Vecchia.

"We believe," explains Salvatore Erittu , the event's promoter, "that great opportunities also arise from great difficulties, which is why we chose to bring boxing back to the city center." Twenty boxers, including women, from minors to elite categories, and countless onlookers and enthusiasts packed the square, just as they did in 2025, the initiative's debut year.

"We plan to hold it again in 2027," Erittu reports, announcing an upcoming boxing event, again in the oldest part of the city, in a location yet to be determined. The matches between the fighters were intense and, at times, very heated, and they still managed to embrace each other at the end of the shoot despite the beatings they had received and given, demonstrating a maturity not always found on the sporting stage.

"What we do goes beyond teaching boxing," adds Team Erittu's coach. "Every day we accompany boys and girls on a shared journey of growth as a team, helping them develop discipline, respect, self-control, and self-confidence."

"We believe," concludes Salvatore Erittu, "that sport is an extraordinary educational tool, capable of developing not only athletes, but above all, informed people and better citizens."

The event was also sponsored by the Fpi Sardinia Regional Committee, and supported by Endas – Italian National Sports Organization, with contributions from the Fondazione di Sardegna and the collaboration of Bar Copacabana.
