Second place in the "Nadia Toffa" literary and journalistic award for Carmen Salis: the writer from Capoterra was awarded last night in Palermo for the book "Gianna, she was my sister", published by Amico Libro. The parents of the Hyena journalist, who disappeared in August 2019, and the doctors of the pediatric oncological department of the Sicilian capital also took part in the award ceremony.
200 journalists and writers participated in the competition, organized by the Archetipa association under the patronage of the Order of Journalists of Sicily. The Sardinian writer - who arrived ex aequo with two other authors - was competing in the narrative section.
«I'm very happy - says Carmen Salis -, conquering the podium in a competition with so many participants is a great satisfaction. I was told that Gianna was a great sister, for me it was the best compliment: I like to think that through this competition she was able to leave the island, as she had always wanted. For me it was a privilege to tell the story of my sister, who is the same as the many psychiatric patients, people that we all have a duty to protect and make them feel part of society".
