In Southern Sardinia, the tourist season is proceeding at full speed but, despite the fact that there are no hotels that have not been able to open due to lack of staff, there are still some inconveniences. Some hotels, explains Fausto Mura, president of Federalberghi Sud Sardegna, “have had to limit some services. For example, those in the room are limited, as is the restaurant for lunch, or even the bar service on the beach, or the one in the pool ".

The most sought-after professional figures today are: cooks, maître, qualified waiters and qualified reception staff, but no problem in finding unqualified personnel. "This convinces us more and more that the real problem lies in the training and in the low volume that the island training places on the tourist job market annually - Mura points out - for now the tourist season is proceeding well and there are excellent forecasts for the months to come. . We are not talking about a record season but the numbers up to now are good. As is our habit we will do the math at the end of the season. "

Today's problems, Mura continues, will recur over the years, especially in relation to some professional figures: “There is no high level training that creates Directors and Managers of the sector and these figures are almost always found in the national or foreign market. We hope that this problem can be solved as soon as possible but being aware that the new figures will need a training that varies from 3 to 5 years, we realize that it will recur in the years to come. We turn to training institutions, trade unions, the Tourism Department and the legislator, for a table with the trade associations and find a solution ”.
