Palau guitarist Paolo Angeli enters the first selection of the Grammy Awards.

The feat of the musician, defined by the Chicago Reader as one of the most influential and innovative guitarists in the world, is due to the concept album "Rade" , nominated for Album of the Year and Best Alternative Music Album at the Grammy Awards.

Several songs are present in the categories Alternative Music Performance (the single Rade), Instrumental Composition (Azhar), Global Music Performance (Ottava) and Arrangement Instrumental (Mare Lungo).

The work is the synthesis of twenty-five years of coexistence of Paolo Angeli with his orchestral guitar , pushed to the limit of expressive timbre potential. The music is suspended between popular and contemporary, between Balkan pulsations, Middle Eastern arches, North African desert adagi, references from Rebetiko and memories of the historical avant-gardes.

The nomination for the Oscars of music is accompanied by a tour in the United States , which continues the international path of Rade, which began with the two concerts within the prestigious European festivals La merce (Barcelona) and Jazz a Pointiers.

The concert calendar, which started on October 2 at the Chicago World Music Festival (Logan Center), ends with two concerts on the West Coast: the 16th in Portland (The Old Church) and the 19th in Seattle (The Royal Room).

With his voice, relying on the quatrains of Gallura and Logudorese poets of the '700 and' 800 , Angeli translates Sardinian music into a contemporary and post-rock context.

"I have always loved playing in the United States, a place where, since the early 2000s, I have had comparisons with giants of contemporary North American music and where I have always been welcomed by the public with enthusiasm, as much in rooms as Carnegie Hall. as much as in the intimacy of clubs - says Angeli - my goal is to affirm the Mediterranean avant-garde internationally, with its specificity and uniqueness of syntax. If it were to arrive at a Grammy nomination, I think it would be an opportunity to claim the diversity of my career, engaged in the attempt to dismantle the barriers between musical genres. In any case, the candidacy is already a reason of great satisfaction for me ".
