The waste-to-energy plant , which cost the Region over 50 million, is still not starting up for reasons that are currently unknown . A fact that is generating a dramatic situation throughout the territory, with workers without salary for three months and with non-payment of social security and insurance contributions.

Thirty families were involved, and thus the workers' revolt was triggered in Tossilo . The thirty workers of Tossilo Spa sent a document to their company, to the Prefecture of Nuoro, to the liquidator commissioner of the industrial consortium, to the regional councilors for industry, environment and work and to the trade union organisations, highlighting the serious situation that has came to create in the plain between Macomer and Borore. «Embittered and incredulous, we are forced to highlight once again our gravest disappointment and bewilderment at the situation in which we find ourselves - the workers write - we work for a company that has very serious financial difficulties and is making losses of hundreds of thousands of euros , in total indifference, without anyone studying a credible solution and taking measures in any case".

In particular, the intervention of the Region is requested, which does not respond to the requests and protests even of the mayors of the area.

"Enough now - write the workers - we ask that the regional law of 2008 be fully applied , as provided for the companies owned by the industrial consortium of Macomer in liquidation, therefore including the transfer of functions and workers to the new body".

A situation that has now become unsustainable. "We need certainties for our future, including that of our families - it is written again in the workers' document - we believe that the new waste-to-energy plant must be started up and managed by an entity that has the financial capacity to do so and that can give serenity not only to us, but also to the suppliers, companies and organizations involved, as well as ordinary users».

The situation , despite the call from the Prefect of Nuoro and the official commitment of the competent regional councilors, does not seem to be improving, but is getting worse with each passing day . The crisis vetoes in the Region certainly don't help to get out of this dramatic uncertainty.
