«Wind towers incompatible with the San Basilio radio telescope»
Dolianova, Serdiana, San Nicolò Gerrei and Sant'Andrea Frius against the installation of 13 78 Mw wind turbines less than 3 kilometers from the Sardinia radio telescopePer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
Not only landscape and hydrogeological constraints: the project for the construction of a wind farm in the Gerrei Mountains is incompatible with the activity of the Pranu Sanguni radio telescope, located just 2.8 kilometers away as the crow flies from the site identified by the company Sedda Perdonau Wind Srl for the installation of 13 78 MW blades . The indication appears among the observations presented by the Municipalities of Dolianova, Serdiana, San Nicolò Gerrei and Sant'Andrea Frius to the Ministry of the Environment to ask for the project to be stopped . According to rumors, not officially confirmed for now, the National Institute of Astrophysics (which had already opposed the expansion of the Goni wind farm in recent years) also has a detailed report ready to send to the Ministry.
For now, the technicians of the Municipalities have taken care of it, who in their deductions underline the proximity of the Sedda Perdonau site to the radio telescope, well below the minimum distance of 4.5 kilometers required by law to avoid interference with the scientific research activity of the Srt (Sardinia radio telescope) capable of picking up very weak signals from space. A scenario against which the emissions of electrical equipment and the noise generated by 13 78 megawatt wind turbines would conflict.
But the critical issues reported by the Municipalities are not limited to this. The main obstacle is represented by the right to civic uses that weighs on municipal lands and automatically determines their inalienability. In almost all the areas identified by the company Sedda Perdonau Wind srl there is also a hydrogeological and forestry constraint.
