Historic center once again stormed in Oristano over the weekend. Today Piazza Cattedrale showed all the signs of yet another wild night of hundreds of young people who ended Saturday night in a flood of alcohol and vandalism . Each time the script is the same with numerous young people who gather in the square between the Duomo and the convent of San Francesco as well as in the churchyard of Santa Chiara.
As residents have been reporting for some time, groups of kids meet up in the squares, but very often the situation gets out of hand and the evening degenerates into shouting, noise and not exactly proper behavior . As happened last Saturday when, after drinking and eating, some people thought it was a good idea to abandon their pizza boxes and bottles on the walls of Piazza Cattedrale .
"The situation is increasingly critical," residents report, "we don't know what to do anymore." There are controls but " as soon as the police pass through the area, the kids manage to disappear, " they add. There are cameras, the entire area is under video surveillance, "but we never manage to identify any of the people responsible and sanction them." And there are those who call for an urban DASPO, under strict parental control.
In recent days , Prefect Angieri called a meeting of the Provincial Committee for Order and Security to discuss the protection systems for churches and places of worship, which have recently been targeted by thieves and vandals (there had been raids at San Francesco and the Cappuccini).
What happens on weekends is also quite alarming and at the end of the summit it was decided to strengthen video surveillance both inside and outside places of worship .
