They would have eaten wild beets without noticing the toxic weed. Now they are hospitalized in San Gavino
A couple from Villacidro is hospitalized in San Gavino with a reserved prognosis for having eaten mandrake. He, 72, and she, 59, were rescued from 118 this morning in their home and rushed to hospital: they are in intensive care waiting for the antidote, physostigmine, to arrive from the National Poison Control Center in Pavia.
The carabinieri of the Villacidro company are at work on what happened, warned by the first people who gave the alarm and by the 118 staff. It seems that the couple received wild beets from an acquaintance without anyone noticing the presence of mandrake .
