The Cagliari City Council has approved, upon a proposal from Councilor Yuri Marcialis, the final-executive project for the environmental and landscape redevelopment of the second lot of Viale Trieste, between Via Pola and Piazzale Trento. The project involves a total investment of €10.5 million, €6 million of which will be funded by European funds (PN Metro Plus 21-27) and €4.5 million by municipal funds.

The redevelopment project involves redesigning the car and pedestrian areas, including the addition of a new bike path on the west side . A new, more efficient and sustainable public lighting system will be installed, and the water and sewer systems will be upgraded . Permeable earth and grass surfaces will be used, promoting natural soil respiration and mitigating climate impact.

Particular attention , explains the municipal administration, is paid to the natural heritage : the project protects the ficus trees that characterize the avenue and plans to enhance them with new plantings of the same species, with the aim of preserving the botanical characteristics of the site. The project will then be completed with new street furniture.
