Months after Hurricane Harry, the fallen tree in Martiri delle Foibe Park, on Via San Lucifero, is still there . The juniper, which fell during the storm last February, continues to occupy part of the sidewalk , dividing residents and passersby between those calling for its removal and those hoping it can be saved.

"The plants need to be monitored and cared for, perhaps that way it wouldn't have fallen," Marco Danese comments. "But if it becomes a danger, we need to intervene. Cagliari is poorly cared for in this regard."

Some are even urging the city to try to salvage the tree. "It's better to make it safe than cut it down," Daniele and Carla explain. "There are techniques to support it, as has happened in other cases in the city."

The municipality has announced that the juniper is still alive and that immediate felling is not currently planned . The tree has already been lightened with some pruning and will remain under observation to determine whether it can be recovered with a support system or whether permanent removal will be necessary.
