Truck loses a large block of marble, damaged bridge and near tragedy

After hours of searching, the agents of the Siniscola Municipal Police tracked down the driver of an articulated lorry that today at lunchtime lost a large block of marble on the Abba Vritta bridge , along a municipal road forbidden to heavy vehicles.

The large load that slipped from the vehicle's body caused a large hole in the overpass and after breaking through the guardrail , it fell into the ground below .

No one witnessed the accident and it was thanks to the report of another passer-by that the episode was discovered. In fact, the driver left with his articulated lorry without giving the alert. Tracked down, he was taken to the local police headquarters.

The road was closed to traffic pending checks on the stability of the bridge .
