Tragedy in Villasimius, where a 26-year-old boy drowned in the sea in front of the Is Traias beach.
The victim is Gabriele Loi , born in Cagliari and residing in Maracalagonis, assistant cook in a residence, where his father also works.
The young man went into the water for a swim before starting the evening shift at the residence. His friends, who jumped into the water, and a group of German tourists, who noticed him floundering with one leg stuck among the rocks, saw him in difficulty. Tourists have also reached it by swimming and canoeing, and carried it ashore. But attempts at resuscitation were unfortunately useless.
After the alarm, a 118 medical unit and an air ambulance intervened, but unfortunately there was nothing more that could be done for the young man. The carabinieri of Villasimius were also on the spot, who started the investigations and collected the testimonies of the people present at the tragedy.
The body was returned to the family in the evening. The magistrate did not consider the necropsy report necessary: it was a disgrace, a tragic fatality.
