Tomorrow morning, in the sanctuary of the Miracle, the Bitti community will bid farewell to Giorgio Pittalis , the 61-year-old farmer killed last Friday by his younger brother Giuseppe , at the height of a dispute on their farm in the country's countryside.
Yesterday evening the coroner Matteo Nioi concluded the autopsy on the victim's body at the San Francesco hospital in Nuoro: at least five violent hammerings were inflicted on the head of the 61-year-old farmer.
Giuseppe Pittalis, confessed guilty, was interrogated yesterday by the investigating judge of Nuoro Mauro Pusceddu in the prison of Badu 'e Carros, where he is imprisoned, and confirmed his reconstruction of the facts.
A version that a few hours after the crime he had already told Fabrizio Ricciardi to the captain of the carabinieri of the Compagnia di Bitti , after he had turned himself in.
The dispute allegedly broke out while the two brothers were busy milking the sheep for a van that had been stationary for days, which was used to transport Giorgio and Giuseppe Pittalis to the family business every morning. Giorgio, who wasn't driving, would have reproached his brother for not undertaking to repair the vehicle.
This was creating inconvenience for the two, who were forced every morning to ask for a ride from friends to go to work.
During the discussion, which became increasingly heated, the eldest of the brothers would have given a shove to Giuseppe who at that point reacted violently. There was a big hammer nearby, and he took it and hit his brother repeatedly on the head.
