Tissi, Sassari ambulance on fire Emergency: "We were threatened"

An ambulance belonging to the volunteers of the Sassari Emergenza Odv association of Tissi caught fire.

The fire, probably of malicious origin, started at the headquarters in Viale Italia, where the arsonists targeted the emergency vehicle.

The firefighters and the Carabinieri of the Sassari mobile radio section intervened this morning around 2.20am, following a report from a passer-by.

The flames apparently started from a wheel covered in flammable liquid. The timely intervention of the red helmets prevented the fire from destroying the vehicle. The engine and electrical system suffered serious damage.

The Carabinieri are investigating the case, having viewed the images from the video surveillance cameras in the area.

"We were threatened but we didn't think they would get to this point," said the president of the Sassari Emergenza Odv association, Claudio Cabizzosu, who filed a complaint.

Other arson attacks had been recorded last year against the relief association “Sant'Anna”, in Sassari.
