On Saturday, in Castelsardo's Piazza della Misericordia, the vocal group Amoris Laetitia from Caltanissetta, directed by Laura Gallo, captivated the audience with their concert "Spiritus Temporis," a captivating sonic journey through the most beautiful works of sacred and secular music, part of the Note Senza Tempo early music festival. The beauty of choral singing found its fullest expression in a setting steeped in centuries of history: the ancient Piazza della Misericordia, at the foot of the Doria Castle and across from the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, one of Castelsardo's most iconic corners. The Confraternity of the Holy Cross has operated here since the 16th century, custodians of a centuries-old tradition that has endured through time without losing its spiritual power, passed down primarily through the ancient chant "a cuncordu."
Next to the church stands the ancient Benedictine convent, now home to the MOG (Museum of Genoese Origins) and a testament to a tradition that continues to thrive and renew itself. "For a few moments, time truly seemed to stand still," said Councilor for Culture Maria Speranza Frassetto. "This is the idea of culture we believe in: not simply organizing events, but creating opportunities where tangible and intangible heritage meet, illuminating each other to evoke authentic emotions. Culture reaches its deepest meaning when it succeeds in resonating with the roots we preserve, making their soul perceptible. Those who attended the evening will certainly carry with them the memory of an extraordinary concert. I hope, however, that they will also retain the memory of a place that, thanks to music, was able to reveal its essence. A special thanks goes to the Dolci Accenti Association and, in particular, to Calogero Sportato, for the passion, expertise, and sensitivity with which he made this wonderful evening possible, helping to make Castelsardo, once again, the stage for a top-level cultural event.
The next event of the festival will be on September 4th in Sassari, with the Dolci Accenti association presenting "Orfeo Futuro," a performance repeated in Uri the following day. "Note Senza Tempo" is organized by the Dolci Accenti association with the patronage and support of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the Fondazione di Sardegna, and the municipal administrations of Sassari, Porto Torres, Alghero, Uri, and Castelsardo. It is part of the "Salude&Trigu" program of events promoted by the Sassari Chamber of Commerce.
