Also two Sardinians involved in the maxi operation “Viper 2” against online child pornography, which led to 12 arrests, 14 reports, 26 searches and the seizure of thousands of files with images of minors. On the Island, the postal police of Sassari (led by commander Michele Delogu) arrested a thirty-eight-year-old from Buddusò, a driver for a supermarket chain. In addition, among the suspects also a professional from Calangianus, aged 55.

The activity, conducted by the Police and coordinated by the Venice Prosecutor's Office, touched 18 provinces including Sassari. According to what was verified by the agents, the thirty-eight-year-old from Buddusò kept hundreds of videos and photos of minors on his PC and cell phone that he exchanged online using the apps Viber and Signal. And, in addition, he also managed his own channel specialized in newborns . The arrest dates back to last January 21: initially he had been placed under house arrest, by order of the Prosecutor's Office, then he appeared before the judge who validated the arrest and revoked the precautionary measure of house arrest.

As regards the professional from Calangianus, among those under investigation, in this case too the postal police of Sassari searched his apartment, seizing computer media on which compromising material was found .

At the national level, the long and complex investigation, conducted undercover on a well-known messaging platform, monitored approximately 130 virtual spaces in which there were paedophile users from all over the world who exchanged thousands of photos and videos of abuse on minors, mostly at a young age . The foreign users present in the chats were reported by the CNCO to the interested States through the channels of international police cooperation.

The operation was conducted by investigators of the State Police of the Operations Center for Cyber Security of Venice, coordinated by the Venice Public Prosecutor's Office and the National Center for the Fight against Online Child Pornography of the Postal Police Service, and was initiated by a previous activity of the COSC of Venice "Viper" , which last year had already led to the execution of 60 searches and the arrest of 28 people belonging to large international communities of paedophiles.

In addition to Sassari, the other provinces involved in the operation are Lecce, Syracuse (1 arrest), Massa, Pisa (2 arrests), Bergamo, Milan (3 arrests), Monza Brianza, Isernia (1 arrest), Caserta, Reggio Calabria, Rome (1 arrest and 1 person reported), Alessandria (1 arrest), Cuneo, Novara, Venice (1 arrest), Vicenza and Treviso (1 arrest) .
