Thousands of citizens, faithful and tourists (some from other European countries and also from the United States) crowded the streets of Cagliari on the occasion of the 366th edition of the Feast of Sant'Efisio , finally back in attendance after two years of restrictions due to Covid-19 pandemic.

The day began as usual from the church of Sant'Efisio with the mass of the alter nos , representative of the municipality in the dissolution of the vote.

Smiles and emotion for everyone, starting with the alter nos in person, Viviana Lantini , city councilor, the second woman in history to hold the prestigious role.

Then the procession of the simulacrum of the Saint , which began its pilgrimage with applause and cheers . There was no lack of Ukrainian flags and calls for peace .

"Sant'Efisio, you take care of Putin", a woman screamed behind the barriers in Corso Vittorio Emanuele as the warrior martyr's chariot passed.

Then the inevitable parade of costumes and characteristic traccas , the colorful carriages pulled by oxen.

The highlight of the celebrations around 1.30 pm was greetings and applause in front of the Town Hall in a Via Roma covered with flower petals for the traditional "ramadura" .

The chariot then took the road to the places of martyrdom, in Nora , about forty kilometers from the city. The simulacrum will return on May 4th to find its place in the small church of Stampace.
