If in May Sardinia was among the last regions in Italy in terms of the number of anti-Covid vaccinations (599,725 total doses, 177,185 people who had completed the vaccination cycle), today the island must accelerate the third inoculations that up to as of yesterday there were 44,840.

Massimo Temussi, extraordinary commissioner of the Regional Health Authority, acknowledges that there is a bit of "confusion between who should or should not do it, but we will remedy", while Minister Roberto Speranza clarified: "In a phase of resurgence of the viruses like the one we are witnessing at the European level at the moment, it is right to speed up the administration of recalls ”. Therefore, to avoid a new increase in hospitalizations, also considering the increase in positive cases, we must run to avoid what is happening for example in England, with record numbers linked to the fourth wave.

As indicated in a circular sent to the regions, recipients of the "booster" dose, to be administered 6 months after the second, are: frail subjects, health personnel, guests and staff of the RSA, those who have had the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine and all Italians who are over 60 years old.

“We need adequate communication - adds Temussi -. In the space of a very short time, several decrees followed one another precisely on the third doses that perhaps generated a bit of confusion. For this reason, already this week we plan to organize an information campaign to make it clear who has to go to the hubs for the third dose and who has yet to wait. A situation that we therefore hope to resolve soon, also because the general vaccination campaign is proceeding quite well: the available slots are filling up and the new Sassari hub is also registering important numbers ”.
