"Ita must guarantee more seats on planes to Sardinia to resolve the critical issues that are characterizing the summer period".

This is the call of the regional Department of Transport to the national airline, accompanied by a request to insert additional flights or to use planes with greater capacity «in the hypothesis in which the booking systems highlight a demand for seats for each section exceeding 91% of the 'total daily offer', as established by the decree which imposes service charges on routes in territorial continuity.

"We are carefully monitoring the flight situation also in consideration of the constant complaints from passengers ", explains the councilor Antonio Moro. He adds: « The greatest criticalities were recorded on the Cagliari-Fiumicino route and vice versa . We reiterated to Ita that, if the maximum number of seats requested is exceeded, the company is obliged to insert additional flights or use more capacious aircraft. I remind you that in the event of failure to activate the additional flights, penalties will be applied ».

THE NUMBERS – In particular, underlines Villa Devoto, in the period under consideration (June and July), peak percentage points of seats requested were recorded on the Cagliari-Fiumicino route out of the total of those offered on 4 June (97.56%, 1197 seats requested and 1227 offered) and on 2 July (98.60%, 1059 out of 1074) and on 12 particularly critical days (threshold of 91% abundantly exceeded) the additional flight was inserted only seven times.

On the Fiumicino-Cagliari route, the highest levels were reported on 22 June (99.35%, 1222 out of 1230) and 24 June (97.72%, 1202 out of 1230) and in four highly critical days out of 23 it was not the additional flight was planned.
