A tube that arrives late for the treatment of a child, with the little patient forced to have surgery. This is the complaint of the USB trade union that this morning in Cagliari protested with flags and banners in front of the Regional Health Department.

“A 14-month-old girl - explains Salvatore Drago representing the union - suffering from a rare genetic disease needs a tube to feed her. Sondino which is distributed in the local pharmacy and which the little girl had been waiting for since March of this year ". But the tube, continues Drago, “arrived seven months later. Complications due to the lack of even a simple tube led the child to be hospitalized urgently and subjected to a very delicate surgical operation costing well above that of the tube. But the most important and deleterious thing about the whole affair is that, according to the medical team, it has seriously endangered the very life of the child ".

"Would you dare to put the life of a child at risk to save 300 or at most 500 euros, such is the cost of the tube?", Is the appeal of the trade unions to councilor Nieddu. "Hospitalization now - continues Drago - does not cost more than the tube?".

Among the themes of the protest also the management of the pharmacies of the Local Health Authorities. "We claim the right to treatment and aids in due time that all people need and the right to receive and for an effective, efficient and universal Public Health", concludes the Usb.
