Violent collision between cars at the crossroads for Bancali on the former 131, on the border between the territories of Porto Torres and Sassari. Two cars destroyed is the result of the accident which occurred in the late afternoon of February 22nd, around 5.30pm at the "usual" intersection which was the scene of several accidents, including fatal ones.

According to the first reconstructions of the incident, a Volkswagen T-Cross, which emerged from the provincial road 56 to head towards Bancali, crossed the road of a Volkswagen Passat driven by a 33-year-old from Porto Torres who was proceeding on the former 131 towards Sassari. The 33-year-old remained miraculously unharmed as did the two tourists on board the T-Cross.

The cause of the accident was probably the high speed, the lack of right of way and a GPS error which indicated a roundabout which does not exist where instead there is a road crossing where - as mentioned - serious accidents have been recorded for years.

The driver of the Volkswagen T-Cross in fact relied on the navigator which misled him. And there are several cases of inaccuracy reported by Tom Tom in that area.

After the alarm, two 118 ambulances intervened on site, returning empty to the base, the local police of Porto Torres to regulate the traffic and the firefighters of the local detachment to make the road safe.

The cars lost several pieces of bodywork in the impact and the front end of the Volkswagen Passat was destroyed.
