Sardinia is about to reach the important milestone of 90 percent immunized against the coronavirus in the age group from 12 years upwards, just over 1.2 million residents.

In absolute terms, there are 1,103,984 people vaccinated (1,060,070 with double dose and 43,914 single dose) or 86.3% of the vaccination coverage target.

While the target of herd immunity at 80% with two doses is not close, which, according to the ATS, could be reached at the end of September, but which according to other simulations could arrive no earlier than mid-October. Coverage currently amounts to 69.1% of the total population.

In the last seven days the campaign has progressed with about 10 thousand administrations per day of which about 70% are first doses and this bodes well for the achievement of the goal. The driving force is mainly young people between 20 and 29 years (78% with the first dose) and the very young between 12 and 18 years (73% with a single administration), but also foreigners, pushed by the various open days organized by the Territorial Assl.

Among the initiatives of these days we can remember that of today in Cagliari with the Open Night from 18 to 23 in Piazza Garibaldi, "fort" of the no vax and no green pass that every Saturday organize a garrison with a procession. From Monday the third dose will start, also in Sardinia, for the first 20-25 thousand immunosuppressed citizens.
