She now works in two capacities : on the one hand, she continues her mission as minority councilor of the Municipality of Riola Sardo , on the other, she has recently begun electoral campaigning in preparation for the elections to elect the new mayor of San Vero Milis . This is the curious case of Irene Erdas , born in 1976, a social worker. Erdas has decided to run for councilor on the list led by Andrea Atzori, manager of the famous Su Pallosu feline colony, who declared his candidacy two weeks ago.
Many in Riola Sardo are talking about Erdas's decision. She explains her reasons bluntly: "First of all, it wasn't me who asked to commit to another area, but Atzori himself. He asked for my input, after observing my work both as a minority councilor in Riola and after the observations on civic uses I had presented some time ago to the Municipality of San Vero Milis. And to which, among other things, I had never received concrete responses. I was happy to accept the candidacy because these two areas have much in common. Many citizens of Riola, for example, spend the summer in San Vero Milis, where services are scarce, while others along the San Vero Milis coast own homes. Running for office," Erdas explains, "doesn't mean sitting on the council benches." When asked what he thinks of Erdas's decision, Riola Sardo's mayor, Lorenzo Pinna, responded succinctly: "It's not up to me to judge, but up to the citizens. For the rest, no comment."
