The big demonstration last June was of no avail, just as the promises made by the Region were not respected. This is why the fishermen have now decided to intervene more forcefully. As? By blocking the Marceddì bridge, a structure that connects the Oristano area to the Costa Verde.

This was communicated by Antonio Loi, president of the Marceddì Fishing Consortium, denouncing for the umpteenth time the problems present in canal 17 which have never been resolved, a stretch which connects the ponds of Corru s'Ittiri and Corru Mannu to the sea and which has been covered for too long by the sand transported by the sea. The risk is that the entire lagoon will turn into a fish kill.

«As expected, with this overheating, the situation has worsened», explains Loi, «I ask those responsible to intervene immediately with a dredge, the environmental disaster is around the corner. A regional heritage destroyed due to inability not by the fisherman, but by those who represented us and those who represent us. The consortium, having not received any response, with great regret, will organize a large demonstration blocking the Marceddì bridge."

Loi apologizes in advance to the population for the inconvenience that will be created: «We are convinced, however, the citizens will understand. The fault lies with political inability, not ours."
