A celebration that was all family but no less beautiful and intense, the one for the 100th birthday of Ignazio Piras, born in 1924, held in his home . In addition to relatives, the mayor Sandro Pili, the councilors Rosella Orrù and Maura Mura were present, who gave the lively centenarian a floral tribute and a commemorative plaque.
"It was an honor and a real pleasure to participate in his birthday - says Mayor Sandro Pili - to bring Tziu Ignazio and his family warm wishes on behalf of the entire population. It is superfluous to underline how our elders represent the historical memory that must always be safeguarded".
Also present at the pleasant ceremony were the parish priests Don Mattia Porcu and Don Andrea Martis . Tziu Ignazio recalled the many vicissitudes of his long life, made of many sacrifices and deprivations in moments that were certainly not very beautiful but that fortunately he overcame thanks to work and his family always close by.
The new centenarian is one of two citizens of Terralba to have passed the century of life. The other is Mrs. Marianna Lonis who has already reached the venerable age of 102 years . Elia Lisci and Desideria Maccioni were also ultracentenarians, but they passed away during the year.
